East Wuerttemberg CCI's Mandate and Objectives

What is the mandate?
The East Wuerttemberg CCI endeavours to represent the overall interests of industry and commerce in its district. East Wuerttemberg CCI has 25,000 member companies. Since they include a large proportion of small and medium-sized enterprises, the Chamber sees itself in particular as a partner for business enterprises of that size.

On what legal basis does the CCI operate?
The East Wuerttemberg CCI is a public law corporation. It works on the basis of the Chamber Act of 1956 which is valid today in the version of December 21. 1992. In supreme court decisions handed down on this Act, compulsory membership of the Chamber was confirmed as an important guarantee for the representation of the interests of the business community as a whole. This comprehensive membership encourages commerce and industry to pull together, irrespective of the sector of activity and size of each company.

What socio-political role does the Chamber play? The East Wuerttemberg CCI represents interests and is also an opinion leader on all economic and business policy issues of its district. On the basis of a social market economy, the ongoing promotion of commerce and industry is one of its most important goals. It serves as an information and communication centre for the entire region. Moreover, it acts as a moderator between the various social positions and schools of thought with a view to promoting the process of social consensus.
